Race Info
The race
  • 50+ miles in rugged terrain in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas.
  • 9 to 18 hours. Cutoff time is 18 hours, but teams may continue only if conditions permit.
  • Solo divisons (both male and female categories)
  • Unsupported race..no support crews allowed throughout the race.
  • There is a limit of 60 teams and 20 individuals.
  • Custom designed trekking poles for each participant!
  • National qualifier Divisions (Rankings and Awards):

    • 2:00pm - 7:00pm: Registration and Pre-race gear check. Liability and photo releases will be completed at registration. All team members must be present.

      5:00 pm - 7:00 pm: Pre-race pasta feed

      7:00 pm: Pre-race meeting - All team members must be present

    • October 21 or 22:
    • Start race (exact time will be announced at pre-race meeting)

      Time TBA: Post-race awards, dinner and celebration banquet

    Team rules:
    Masters Division - the combined age of all members must be 120 years of age on October 21.

    A team must consist of three co-ed members to qualify for rankings and awards.

    All female or all male teams may compete in the 3-person race, but are not eligible for rankings and awards, but are eligible for giveaway prizes.

    2-person team (any gender combination is allowed).

    Participants can be under 18 years of age to compete, but must contact the race director for approval and must have a parent or guardian's signature.
    solo Divisions
    Individual Male and Female categories. Individual racers will be required to submit a race resume in order to compete. We strongly suggest that you have prior adventure racing experience and/or are a very accomplished endurance athlete. Please complete and send Resume by email or fax. Participants in the Solo division must be at least 18 years of age to compete.

    Pre-race Gear Check & rules review
    Each team member must personally check in with race staff to perform a gear check of mandatory equipment. We strongly encourage that at least one person on the team be able to easily orient a map using a compass, identify basic map features, determine a given direction of travel, plot UTM grid coordinates. PLEASE NOTE: teams will not be required to set-up routes, etc., but should have had prior experience with rappelling. All team members will be required to read and sign that they have read and understand all the race rules.

    Each member of the top five teams in the Coed Elite division will receive custom awards, plus the following prizes:
    • 1st place: CycleOps Trainer, shoes, $25 gift certificate
    • 2nd place: Sleeping bag, wool bennie, $25 gift certificate
    • 3rd place: Columbia Omni Heat base layer and shoes
    • 4th place: Shoes and $10 gift certificate
    • 5th place: Columbia Omni Heat base layer
    Each member of the top three Coed Masters division will receive custom awards, plus these prizes:
    • 1st place: Large day pack, shoes and $15 gift certificate
    • 2nd place: Shoes
    • 3rd place: Columbia Omni Heat base layer
    Top three males & top three females in Solo division will receive these prizes:
    • 1st place: Shoes, $15 gift certificate
    • 2nd place: Columbia Omni Heat base layer and $10 gift certificate
    • 3rd place: Bike helmet
    Each member of top three Open three person teams will receive these prizes:
    • 1st place: Set of mtn bike tires
    • 2nd place: Columbia Omni Heat base layer
    • 3rd place: $25 gift certificate
    Each member of the top three Open two-person teams will receive these prizes:
    • 1st place: Shoes, $15 gift certificate
    • 2nd place: Small day pack and $10 gift certificate
    • 3rd place: Columbia Omni Heat base layer

    qualifier for national championships / officially sanctioned event
    The 2011 Lewis and Clark Ozark Adventure Race is a Regional Qualifier for the 2012 National Championships.

    The top 3 coed teams (Elite or Masters) will qualify for the 2012 USARA Adventure Racing National Championships. The first place coed team will receive $400 towards their entry fee into the National Championships, paid for by All Sports Productions, Inc. If the first place coed team has already received $400 towards their entry fee into the National Championships, the $400 will roll down to the second place team, and so on, until it reaches a team that has not received the money towards their registration fees. If one of the top three coed teams have already qualified for the National Championships race, the qualification will roll down to the 4th place team, and so on, until it reaches three teams that have not yet qualified for the race.

    This race is an officially sanctioned event by the United States Adventure Racing Association.
