MANDATORY FIRST AID KIT

These first aid items must be carried by one member during the entire race.

Lighter or waterproof matches

Water purification tablets (bottle of 50)

3 doses of painkiller/anti inflammatory (Excedrin, ibuprofen, etc.)

Moleskin/compeed (enough for each team member)

3" ace bandage

1 tube of triple antibacterial ointment

1 roll of 1" waterproof medical tape or equivalent amount of duct tape

3 - 4x4 gauze pads

MANDATORY INDIVIDUAL EQUIPMENT

The following gear must be carried at all times by each member:

Container(s) in which to carry at least 2 liters of water

Emergency blanket

Glow stick

Headlamp with extra batteries (this light is in addition to the front bike light listed below)

Knife (1.5" blade or longer)

Fleece jacket

Synthetic long sleeve top

Waterproof jacket

Waterproof pants

Whistle

Wool or synthetic hat (not a buff)

Gloves (long fingered)

Duct tape (optional but recommended)

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT FOR SPECIFIC SECTIONS OF THE RACE

Each competitors member must carry the following equipment during certain sections of the race. Race management will provide Canoes, single blade paddles & PFD's. You may bring your own paddles (both single blade or double blade are acceptable) and your own PFD's- Type III or higher. However if you bring your own PFD's, paddles or third canoe seat you will be required to carry them during the specified section(s) of the race.

PFDs* (can bring your own) - All personal life jackets must be Coast Guard approved type 3 minimum.

Helmet (mtn. bike helmet can be used)
